During its Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung lifted the veil on the Galaxy S range, available in three new smartphone models, the Samsung Galaxy S20, S20 + and S20 Ultra.
Overall, the S20 range offers 5G and has the latest Exynos 990 processors, DDR5 RAM, more powerful batteries, screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, as well as advantages such as 8K video recording and new photo modes.
In this article, finally find out what they have to offer, their official release date and their prices.
The Galaxy S20, S20 + and S20 Ultra will be available in stores from March 13. You can already pre-order it on the official sites of Samsung, Boulanger, Darty, Amazon , Cdiscount and Fnac. You can also find it at your operator Sosh , SFR , Orange , Bouygues Telecom or even Free .
The S20 model is sold from € 909. The Galaxy S20 + is offered in 4G or 5G from € 1,009. As for the Galaxy S20 Ultra, its price starts from € 1,359 for 128 GB of storage and € 1,559 for the version with 512 GB.
In terms of design, the S20 hasn’t changed too much compared to its predecessor. However, as we expected, Samsung has removed the headphone jack and the Bixby button.
Unsurprisingly also, the S20 is available in Cloud Pink (pink), Cloud Blue (blue), Cloud Gray (gray).
The S20 + is available in Cosmic black, Cosmic Gray and Cloud Blue. Finally, the Ultra model sports the Cosmic Black and Cosmic Gray colors.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 still has an impressive three-lens module, with a wide 12Mp lens, an ultra-wide 12Mp and a 64Mp telephoto lens that offers net hybrid optical zoom up to 3x and digital zoom up to x30 .
The Galaxy S20 Ultra, for its part, is equipped with a powerful photo module with a main sensor of 108 Mp, a telephoto lens of 48 Mp with x10 optical zoom, an ultra-wide 12 Mp, a spatial zoom x100 and a ToF sensor.
All Galaxy S20 smartphones take advantage of a Single Take mode to take photos and videos simultaneously via all the main lenses. It allows you to film up to 10 seconds and extract the images of your choice within the video itself.
They also have optical stabilization, a feature much appreciated by users.
In low light, the professional quality camera system offered by Samsung is equipped with larger image sensors and supported by artificial intelligence. The Ultra version can boast of being equipped with nona binning technology thanks to which its camera captures 9 pixels grouped into one.
As for video, they have the strength to capture your images in 8K, moving images maintain a perfectly clear resolution.
All three phones have an AMOLED display at 120 Hz. Although each has a higher resolution Quad-HD + (3200×1440), this refresh rate is only available in resolution Full-HD + or lower.
The screen therefore has a refresh rate of 120Hz and houses an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor as well as a punch notch.
The main difference between these screens is their size. The S20 has a display of 6.2, the S20 + 6.7 inches and the S20 Ultra 6.9 inches.
With such a screen, the S20 Ultra is therefore higher, wider and thicker than the S20 +.
Also note that the screen of these three new Galaxy S is Infinity-O Display, with Gorilla 6 glass.
The Galaxy S20 is equipped with the Exynos 990 SoC, associated with a RAM of 8 or 12 GB and a storage capacity of 128 GB (expandable up to 1.5 TB more via the microSD card).
The Exynos 990 7 nm allows a speed gain of 20% and is capable of supporting 120Hz screens and 108 Mp photo modules.
As for the 5G version, it is equipped with a 5G 5123 modem to support sub-6 GHz and mmWave spectra.
In the United States, the Galaxy S20 incorporates a Snapdragon 865 processor that can support screens up to 144Hz with variable refresh rates, but also lenses with resolutions up to 200 Mp.
Whether the European or American variant, the two processors have an LPDDR5 memory and 12 GB of RAM installed on the S20 and S20 +, with up to 16 GB on the S20 Ultra.
The S20 + has a battery life equal to that of the Samsung Galaxy S10, thanks to a 4,500 mAh battery. It is also compatible with 25 W fast charging. The Galaxy S20 Ultra has a 5000 mAh battery compatible with 45 W fast charging.
Finally, the Galaxy S20 has a 4000 mAh battery.
