Team GmbH: 40 Years Of Pioneering In Digitization

Team GmbH is now celebrating its 40th anniversary and the inauguration of a building extension. The IT company was founded in 1982 in a 3-room apartment. In the meantime, Team, with 85 employees, has grown into a provider of intralogistics software and an Oracle partner.

On March 30, 1982, the IT company Team GmbH was launched in a 3-room apartment in Paderborn. The then computer pioneer Nixdorf provided the first orders so that the newly founded company went into the growth phase, and the rooms became too small. Since then, this address has been the headquarters of Team, where 85 employees are currently implementing digitization for customers. In 2021, a turnover of ten million euros was generated.

The partnership with Nixdorf shaped the early years of the company’s history. Nixdorf developed robust computer systems based on Unix and looked for support in the area of software. This was the opportunity for the team to deepen the partnership with the company further. So-called CIM modules (CIM = Computer Integrated Manufacturing) were developed thematically for warehouse management and production data acquisition. A successful period followed for the Team, which initially ended with the decline of Nixdorf in 1990.

Team GmbH Becomes A Partner Of Oracle

The Team then partnered with Oracle, the world leader in databases, and developed its off-the-shelf solutions for the market. Existing customer relationships were maintained, and new ones were gained. The growth continued continuously so that in 2002 the first building extension could be realised. Gradually, Team became a leading provider of intralogistics software and one of the top Oracle partners in Germany. The digitization of business processes in industry and logistics 4.0 led many companies to invest in logistics centres and require modern IT systems.

Here, Team could assert itself on the market with its standard solution for intralogistics, the warehouse management system ProStore, and create the basis for further growth. Furthermore, the need for qualified Oracle services increased steadily. The Team was able to support the company with licensing, support for Oracle databases, and in the area of technologically demanding individual developments.

Extension And Modernization Of The Company Building

Further growth has led to the decision to expand and modernise the company building again, despite the trend towards working from home. Rooms for 20 additional workplaces and attractive meeting and presentation areas were created. Since the building is near the forest areas on the Wilhelmsberg, the idea was implemented to continue the forest and green spaces in the building through light-flooded glass areas.

For example, a carpet with a moss look was used, and wooden panels were installed in the offices to emphasise the natural ambiance. In the end, over one million euros was invested in this second expansion, making it clear that the company will remain loyal to the Schloss Neuhaus location in Paderborn. An essential component of the development was using a modern air heat pump.

The managing directors Heike Käferle and Michael Baranowski also see the future positively: “The demand for innovative IT solutions and services is still high. As a very family-friendly company, we are looking for several new employees who want to accompany the exciting path of digitization in the company over the next few years with innovative solutions and want to continue growing with a team in the future”.
